THE THISTLELINE - Phone no.: 70 20 05 15 The Thistles have a phoneline- Tidsellinjen- where patients as well as relatives can call in, and talk to other cancerpatients. The phoneline is answered by volunteer cancerpatients, who have a large experience with alternative, supplemental and hospital treatments. You are always welcome to call, and have a talk about what, you might have the need for. If you wish to talk to a cancerpatient with a particular cancerdisease, or with a member with experience in certain treatments, we have on The Thistleline the possibility to refer you to one of our contactpersons with the wanted knowlegde. Also between 4:00pm-6:00pm THE THISTLEGUIDE The Thistleguide is a good inspirational source for the active cancerpatient. The Thistleguide is a booklet which consists of a long series of useful articles, for any cancerpatient that wants to be self-active and get started. The booklet describes a list of options within alternative and supplementary treatments. Here you will find many of the questions, the society is often asked. The articles are written by Thistlemembers, counselors, and doctors. Included are also members own stories, as well as diet information, and different alternative and supplementary treatments. All new members will recieve the booklet free of charge. The booklet consist of 96 pages. The price is dkr. 60,- plus postage, and can be ordred by enquiry to the bureau. ( See back page). DISTRICT MEETINGS The Thistles have lokal districts throughout Denmark. To meet and exchange experiences with equals is a big help, when you are in a difficult situation. Each individual district holds a monthly district meeting, except for vacation season. In these meetings there will be lectures about altternative, supplementary and preventative treatments, incl. dietary instructions, excercise ect. A district meeting can also be that place, where you meet , just to have a "chat" with other cancerpatients. All scheduled meetings in each individual district, can be found in our Members Magazine, and on our website; www.tidslerne.dk. MEMBERS MAGAZINE In Tidslerne you can among others, find current articles about alternative and supplementary treatments, news from the physicians world, debate articles, and leading articles; "The Thistles beliefs". In each issue of Tidslerne we bring at least one personal story. These stories, written by our readers, are about their own disease- and progress of treatment. Our editorial staff therefore invite our readers to send their point of views, as well as personal stories. Tidslerne is the readers magazine. The editorial staff see it as one of their distinguished duties to present the readers with a wide aray af possibilities the cancerpatient has, to act activly in relation to their own disease. Tidslerne is published four times a year. As a member you will recieve the magazine for free. Others can purchase it for dkr. 30,- plus postage. WEBSIDE On the internet you can visit The Thistles website, where you can read more about the society. You can, among other things, read chosen articles from the Members Magazine, as well as the purpose of the society, and draw from it`s history. You can also keep yourself informed of the many activities, that will take place throughout the districts. The website is updated regulary. The adress are: www.tidslerne.dk VOLUNTARY WORK In the cancersociety there are many options to be active within societywork, as well as participate in courses. What`s unique is, that all active members are; or have been cancerpatiens. It is not exceptional, that we see patients who got in touch with The Thistleline when they were diagnosed with cancer, return to the Thistleline - as telephonehelpers. - A circle closes in the most beautiful way. The Thistleline and contactpersonel. Some are joining, either as contactpersonel, or active within groupwork. Regardless of what the single member chooses to be active within,the society will provide the relevant courses. At least twice a year the society arranges courses for contactpersons and telephonehelpers.The contents of the courses will always take the participants own ideas into the final conclution. District work. The society will also make sure that all those responsable within the different districts, are informed of the relevant subjects, which are useful in the daily operation of the district work. All those responsable within the given districts meet twice a year. Other societywork. The society will always need new volunteers.The possibility that excactly your ability, knowlegde and experience can be used, is multiple. As an active member in The Thistles you will also have the possibility to participate in external cources of voluntary work. GIFTS AND CONTRIBUTION. The Thistles are approved as a public utility organization. It means, that you can bequeath to The Thistles without paying death duty. Any taxpayer in Denmark, can also deduct any contribution to the society, that exceeds dkr.500,- during the income year, but not more than dkr.5000,- However, up to dkr.500,- , and the subscription of the membership,are not deductable. Contributions will be documented by a reciept from The Thistles, to use for tax purposes. |
